Crocheting, Knitting, What's the Difference? Crocheting and knitting are both leisure pursuits involving thread and a special needle to create a tabletop decoration, Halloween costumes, thoughtful gift, or unique conversation piece. For crochet, you only need one needle; for knitting, two. Knitting needles can look similar to crochet needles or totally different if you use fancy circular needles which has a wire (metal or plastic) strung from the end of one needle to the other. Knitting usually uses thinner threads while crocheting tends towards yarns and heavier weighted threads. Knitting a project often is done piecemeal like a quilt. You knit separate pieces and then stitch them together to achieve the finished product. A piece that is crocheted involves making continuous rows of stitching and 'chaining up' to the next row to keep going. Crochet yourself a scarf or satchel to compliment your Victorian Halloween costumes or maybe make a red sweater to compliment a baby's Christmas outfit. Whichever way you go, you can't go wrong by continuing such a wonderful tradition of handmade crafts starting with these autumn leaves fridgies.
